Our Mission, Vision, & Values

At Redeemer Lutheran Church, located in Wayzata, we are a community that believes in the power of faith, hope, and love to transform lives. Established in 1924, our church has been a beacon of light for countless individuals and families, offering a place of refuge, and a community that has the privilege of receiving sustenance from God and support from each other.

We offer Bible study that is both stimulating and uplifting, encouraging each of us to live a life of purpose and faith. There's nothing more transformative than the power of faith in action!

Our Mission

Redeemer Lutheran Church and Christian Academy exists for the sole purpose of seeking to connect people to Jesus Christ. He is the Savior of the world and we seek to let everyone know through our ministry about Him. Our constant prayer is that you see Jesus – and His love – reflected in us and through us.

God has called each of us as individuals to believe in Jesus Christ and live this faith in our everyday lives. God accomplishes this call through the power of His Holy Spirit in Word and Sacrament to bring us to faith and build that faith in Him.

God has also called us as a congregation. It is God who has willed us to be partners together in this ministry of sharing Jesus.

As individuals we respond to God's call by growing and exercising our faith. We also respond as a congregation to God's call. We seek to respond to God's call in an organized and planned method by following our Mission and Vision Blueprint.

Redeemer Lutheran Church also provides families and children in the Twin Cities Christian education for K-8 and pre-school. To learn more about our school visit Redeemer Christian Academy.

Our Vision

We will joyfully and passionately share Christ's love with families, our community and the world.

Our Values

We value Christ-centered worship that brings glory to God, dynamically shares the love of Jesus in Word, Sacrament, and song, and equips disciples of Jesus Christ.

And Jesus answered him, “It is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.’” Luke 4:8

Worship & Sacraments

About Worship

Our worship is always centered on the amazing grace of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Worship at Redeemer is a joyful response to God’s mercy, a wonderful blend of modern and traditional music with a variety of instruments, played by gifted musicians. It is always rooted in Scripture, and always proclaims, through the spoken and sung word, that Christ is Lord, crucified and risen for the forgiveness of our sins and the gift of everlasting life.

Through Word and Sacrament (Communion and Baptism) God comes to us; we respond with repentance, joyful praise, and hearts committed to serving the Lord. In our worship we follow the seasons of the church year, with hymns, modern praise songs, and prayers that highlight God’s promises. Every service also has a Children’s Message led by Pastor Steve.

About Communion

We believe the Lord’s Supper is a precious gift and a public confession of faith. Christ is truly present in His body and blood with the bread and wine, for the forgiveness of sins.

Communicants come with three important convictions:

First, not my good works, but the work of Jesus on the cross, who paid the penalty for all my sins, makes me holy and acceptable to God. In Him alone I trust for my salvation.

Second, I come with a repentant heart, turning daily from, my sins to live a new life of joyful obedience to the Lord.

Finally, I come with the understanding that Jesus is truly present, with His body and blood, in the bread and wine.

If these are the convictions of your heart you are welcome at the Lord’s table. For youth who have not been instructed in Holy Communion, we ask that you please refrain from receiving the bread and wine. You are welcome to come forward to receive a blessing from the Pastor.

About Baptism

Baptism is a sacred act, not invented by the church but created by a loving God who desires to give His children a great gift. Through Baptism God forgives our sins and brings us into His forever family, the Body of Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit. This is great news! “We were all baptized by one Spirit into one Body…” (1 Corinthians 12:13). More than a symbol, in Baptism God comes to us and creates the gift of saving faith; we belong to the Lord.

At Redeemer we baptize people of all ages, from infancy through adulthood, because God’s Word commands it and with it comes great blessing. If you or your family members are not baptized, please speak with Pastor Steve. Let God bless you and yours with this great gift!
